Twelve trees left to go. Ten will go into pots, for later placement in locations that are not yet finally graded. The last two I’ll plant tomorrow. It seems appropriate to finish up on May Day. Of the trees already planted, sixty-seven of them got the “full-spa” treatment, orchard quality planting. Though we’ve planted over 200 trees before–never with so many getting the fancy planting protocol We are tired. Maybe we are getting old. As the last trees went into the new West Orchard, we were already planning the next round…pollinating partners to the new trees and locations for next spring. We must be insane.
Now I can go back to blogging about normal topics.
Or take some photos to show us the hard work.

I would, but it’s 195 trees over fifty acres. 36 orchard trees on the west end, 21 orchard trees on the east end, 8 linden trees by the house (in the middle) and the rest spread through the forest.

I did! I got my second Covid shot. It was part of the reason for the rush, in case I was laid -up, I wanted the trees in first. Total for the year–211! (There were some extras in the boxes.)

I hardly felt the second one, A, The first one was a big ouch, however. 🙂

The first one was barely noticeable–but I did get a hemiplegic migraine–wasn’t sure if that was linked. The second one–a sore arm…and another migraine. I don’t get them often, so I’m now convinced about causation.

Ouch. Not nice. I got a headache on my first shot and Peggy on her second. But I wouldn’t say either of them was a migraine.

Hemiplegic migraine is an odd thing–not a headache, but like a one-sided neuralgic pain, and tingling on the surface of the skin over one side of the body. It’s annoying, uncomfortable, but (at least for me) not painful. Certain foods and drugs can trigger them (most notably, poor quality chocolate or OTC cold medications.) I guess the vaccine falls in that category for me.

New to me, A. Sounds better than a migraine headache, though.

I agree! My ex suffered from migraine headaches, and they were incapacitating. Mine is an annoyance (once I knew what it was.) Admittedly, after the first few, I went running to a neurologist–thinking I was having strokes. After the diagnosis, I upgraded any chocolate I eat, and gave up OTC cold meds. Now I rarely have them–and they’re harmless enough in any event.

And it led you to upgrade our chocolate! 🙂 Our daughter used to get them frequently. Not so much anymore.
I can see where your experience would have been a bit on the scary side, A!

Well, one does what one has to do…and there are priorities…and, chocolate!

That’s a lot of trees… I’m a little envious. What happens when they start to grow out, and tangle with each other ?

They are far apart from each other. In some cases, acres apart.
