We’ve never started a fire so early in the season. But it’s been cool and rainy today–a cozy fire is just the thing to take the chill away. This may seem insane to my California friends, battling heat and fires. But it is perfect for conditions here. Time to settle in with a good book and a warm beverage.
Wow! We are having a small fire tonight as well. That confirms it Winter is coming.

It snowed yesterday in Montana. I think we can certainly consider it Autumn. It wasn’t a big fire–just enough to shake the chill. We still have lots in the garden–we’ll watch for frost.

I envy you. I am so tired of heat and smokey skies. This morning, the Santa Anas are kicking in and the fear of fire has ratchited up a notch for me. ;-(

And you have months of fire season to go. I am so sorry. It’s time we recognized that California (and perhaps the hurricane impacted Southeast) are front line victims of climate change.

Thanks for the thoughts. But the woodlands and mountains are also impacted – rising temperatures, invasive insects and diseases. Globalization is not the best scenario – and now virii as well.

Can’t put a ‘like’ on it, but certainly in agreement!:/

We are still all over the place. The leaves have started to fall in the garde yet yesterday we were at the beach and swimming with temps over 33 centigrade. Amelia

It continues to be crazy here, as well. Temperatures have dropped into the fifites, forties at night. At my mum’s (two hundred miles north) tonight she’ll be in the twenties, with frost, and maybe snow. In September. Sheesh.

I am not using the wood stove this year, we are not there 100% of the time and it is always too hot or too old. We got one of those electric furnaces anyway.
